A probe is underway to determine the cause of a silo explosion and massive fire at a Searsmont, Maine, lumberyard that claimed a firefighter and caused injuries to at least 10 other people, including firefighters.
A fire broke out at Chalmette Refining Friday afternoon after residents reported hearing a large explosion, according to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office. The fire was under control as of around 2 p.m., and no injuries were reported, John Rahaim, director of St. Bernard Homeland Security, said.
As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 45 state and federal officials remain at the site of Friday's deadly incident.
